| Breaking News |  | Thursday, May 11th, 1967: St. Louis Whitewashes Dallas Don Sutton had an impressive outing today. He hurled the St. Louis Maroons to a 5-0 shutout victory over the Dallas Texans, yielding 4 hits with 6 strikeouts and 3 walks.
"He threw strikes and he was always around the plate," the Dallas skipper said. "The ball was doing everything he wanted it to do. We hit some balls hard, but they were all right at the fielders."
On his stats sheet this season Sutton shows a 4-4 record, 8 starts, 58.1 innings, 32 strikeouts and a 4.01 ERA. |  | Friday, May 5th, 1967: Bruce Sparkles, Blanks Chicago Bob Bruce pitched a strong game in blanking the Chicago Colts 4-0, allowed no runs on 1 hit, totaled 1 strikeout and gave up 2 walks.
The St. Louis manager said he could tell right away it was going to be a good game for Bruce. "Right from the start, you could see how economical he was," he said. "He threw a lot of strikes."
|  | Friday, April 28th, 1967: St. Louis's Sutton Injured Watching Don Sutton getting helped off the field today at Sportsman's Park, fans of the St. Louis Maroons feared the worst. The news wasn't quite as bad as initially feared, but the starting pitcher will miss 1-2 weeks with dead arm syndrome. "We feel we've dodged a bullet. When you see a guy break down like that, you worry right away," a team spokesman said. Sutton suffered the injury throwing a pitch in the game against the Griffins.
