United League News Article | |  | Wednesday, February 1st, 1967: Atlanta Hilltoppers and Barons Agree to Trade The rumor has been going on for a while now, but today it was made official. The Atlanta Hilltoppers sent 34-year old starting pitcher Billy O'Dell, 33-year old left fielder Norm Siebern, 37-year old starting pitcher Billy Loes, 25-year old second baseman Dick Green, a 4th round draft pick, a 5th round draft pick and a 6th round draft pick to the Cleveland Barons for 35-year old third baseman Eddie Mathews, 27-year old starting pitcher Steve Barber and 25-year old catcher Pat Corrales.
Officials from both teams seem to be pleased with the deal.
Since coming into the league, O'Dell has a 115-109 mark and a 3.86 ERA. The 34-year-old hurler also has struck out 1292 batters in 1913.1 innings and permitted 1842 hits.
To date in his career Barber is 54-50 with an ERA of 3.56 and 617 strikeouts. | |
