United League 05-16-1967 Home | | | Breaking News |  | Monday, May 15th, 1967: UL Honors Washington Third Baseman This week's premier performer in the United League was third baseman Ron Santo of the Washington Monuments.
He banged out a .500 average and was voted the Player of the Week. Over the last week Santo socked 12 hits in 24 at-bats and 2 home runs, drove in 12 runs and scored 6 times.
In 1967 Santo is hitting .317, batted in 40 runs with 7 home runs and 23 runs scored. |  | Friday, May 12th, 1967: Hall 5-5 for Los Angeles Jimmie Hall put on a hitting clinic today as the Outlaws dumped the Monuments 8-7 at Arroyo Seco Stadium. The Los Angeles center fielder sprayed hits all over the ballpark by lashing Washington pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game.
He told SION reporters after the game, that he just hit it where they pitched it. "Too often I try to pull the ball too much. Today I just went with the pitch."
J. Hall singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off D. Wilson in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run triple in the 9th.
Hall on the season is batting .267 with 5 home runs. His totals include 24 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He has played in 26 games. |  | Friday, May 12th, 1967: Colts Reliever Out After injuring himself, Colts reliever Darold Knowles headed straight to the hospital. He was removed from the game as a precaution after throwing a pitch and the team's worst fears were confirmed when it turned out to be a little more serious. Knowles will miss at least 7 months with a torn tricep muscle.
Over the season, he has made 13 relief appearances with no saves. He has K'd 15 batters in 13 innings, yielded 9 walks and has a 5.54 ERA.
