Atlanta's Reed Cops UL Best Manager Award
Wednesday, October 20th, 1971: Glen Reed, skipper of the Atlanta Hilltoppers was voted 1971 United League Manager of the Year and accepted the award earlier today.

He guided Atlanta to first place in the West Division with a 98-62 record.

"I'm very happy about this," he said at the press conference, "But I'm more happy about what my boys did on the field. They battled their butts off for me all year. They should get the credit."

UL's Best Rookie Proclaimed
Friday, October 8th, 1971: All the votes have been tabulated and the recipient of the prestigious United League Rookie of the Year is Ken Henderson of Los Angeles.

This gifted first-year performer won the honors by batting .310 with a .381 OBP. In 138 games this year, the center fielder laced 162 hits in 522 at-bats, hit 27 home runs, drove in 96 runs and scored 84 times.
