| Breaking News |  | Throneberry Honored, 1970 AA AA Best Hitter Wednesday, September 9th, 1970: It's been a year of triumph for veteran Marv Throneberry of the Memphis Chicks as he hit his way to the 1970 American Association AA Best Hitter.
The 37-year-old veteran compiled a .376 average and .503 on-base percentage by putting together 99 hits, 10 doubles, no triples, 15 home runs and 64 walks. He also scored 59 times and drove in 63 runs. |  | AA Awards Outstanding Pitcher Trophy Tuesday, September 8th, 1970: This past season was very special for Bob Hendley of the Charleston Cadets. He picked up 16 wins against only 6 losses and was chosen the winner of the 1970 American Association AA Best Pitcher.
The 31-year-old Cadets ace fashioned a fine 2.78 ERA in 30 starts. He threw 187.2 innings, gave up 186 hits, 72 walks and held opponents to a .260 average. Hendley fanned 103 batters this season. | | | | |
