 | Billingham Sidelined for 5 Months Saturday, July 18th, 1970: The Dallas Texans were dealt a severe blow when Jack Billingham was hurt throwing a pitch recently in a game against the Chicago Colts. After the game, the team trainer reported Billingham might have to spend a lengthy time on the disabled list. Today doctors confirmed it, ruling the 27-year-old starting pitcher out for the rest of the season with a torn back muscle. They indicated it would take Billingham at least 5 months to heal.
For this year Billingham has chalked up 9 wins and 4 losses in 18 starts with 96 strikeouts in 143 innings and a 2.33 ERA. | |
