Monday, September 29th, 1969: Outlaws Lose Demeter for Season
The season is apparently over for Don Demeter. The Los Angeles Outlaws medical staff informed the club that the center fielder will be out at least 10 months with a ruptured disc. Demeter was hurt in the game against San Francisco while colliding with a player at a base. The doctors did not think he would recover prior to the end of the season.

So far this season Demeter is hitting .308 with 22 home runs, 99 RBIs and 89 runs scored. He has 188 hits in 610 at-bats and a .360 OBP.
Thursday, September 25th, 1969: Outlaws Mantilla to Miss Year
The season is ending on a bad note for Felix Mantilla, second baseman for the Los Angeles Outlaws. It was announced today that he will miss the rest of the season because of injury. Mantilla was hurt against the Atlanta Hilltoppers while colliding with a player at a base. He suffered back spasms and will be out for at least 3 weeks.

This season Mantilla is hitting .282 with 23 home runs.
Monday, August 25th, 1969: Los Angeles-Brooklyn Brawl, Epstein and Friend Suspended
Baseball confrontations occasionally get intense and sometimes that tension becomes too much and boils over into more than just words. This time it happened to Los Angeles's Mike Epstein and Brooklyn's Bob Friend. The two were the main participants in a fight that cleared the benches. Today both were suspended by the league for 5 games for their aggressive actions.

"I hope things settle down now," the manager of the Superbas said later. "There's no reason for us to be locked in a cycle of revenge. We all need to focus on baseball instead."

This season Epstein has hit at a .260 clip and produced 44 RBIs, 12 home runs and 40 runs scored.

In 1969 Friend has a 13-9 record with a 3.35 ERA in 26 starts.
