Monday, August 18th, 1969: IL Star of the Week Honored
So far in his young career, Tony Horton has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the International League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts.

The 23-year-old Twin Cities Trappers first baseman hit at a torrid .448 clip as he collected 13 hits in 29 at-bats, 1 home run, 7 RBIs and 5 runs scored.

Horton is presently batting .297 with 34 home runs, 127 runs scored and 141 RBIs. His OBP is .329.
Saturday, August 16th, 1969: Season Possibly Over for Wayne Causey
Twin Cities has lost shortstop Wayne Causey for at least 7 months. He was hurt in a game against the Generals while running the bases and sustained a torn ankle ligaments. His doctors said Causey will probably be out the rest of the year.

In 116 games this year Causey has posted a .105 average and put up these numbers: no home runs, 9 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
Saturday, August 9th, 1969: Koufax Shuts out Twin Cities
The Toronto manager told reporters after the game, "When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy. The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."

He was talking about Sandy Koufax, who had just hurled a fine 2-hit shutout over the Twin Cities Trappers. He had 15 strikeouts and 2 walks in the Toronto 3-0 victory.

"An outstanding job," the Twin Cities manager said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."

In 1968, Koufax has chalked up 9 wins and 10 losses in 23 starts with 153 strikeouts in 165 innings and a 3.22 ERA.
