| Breaking News |  | Saturday, September 13th, 1969: Season Possibly Over for Jim Busby
Jim Busby of the Texans just might have to call it quits for the season. The 42-year-old Dallas right fielder received a possible season-ending injury against the Los Angeles Outlaws recently at Turnpike Stadium. Busby suffered fractured ribs while making a defensive play. The Texans medical staff said he could be out quite some time, as much as 4 weeks.
Busby is currently hitting at a .304 pace with 5 home runs and 47 RBIs.

One of the league's most exciting young players, Willie Crawford of the Dallas Texans earned himself United League Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.
For the week the 23-year-old right fielder had a lofty .588 average (10-17), collecting 1 home run, 4 RBIs and 8 runs scored.
Crawford is hitting .291 in 1969 with 17 home runs, 52 RBIs and 80 runs scored. He has 128 hits in 440 at-bats and played in 130 games.

"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad batting.
In his postgame interview the Chicago manager said, "Gene Conley made us look real bad today. He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Conley had 4 strikeouts, 2 walks and allowed only 5 hits as the Dallas Texans whitewashed the Chicago Colts 9-0.
This year Conley has a 12-4 record with a 2.04 ERA in 26 starts.
