Tuesday, September 23rd, 1969: Number 2000 for Cepeda
Boston first baseman Orlando Cepeda finished the day with 1 hit in 5 at-bats and 2000 career hits. The Federals also finished off the Gray Sox, 3-2. The 32-year-old Cepeda added his name to the list of players in the 2000-hit club.

During his career Cepeda has chalked up 2000 hits and a .283 average with 382 home runs and 1204 RBIs.
Wednesday, August 20th, 1969: Jenkins Tames Federals
Fergie Jenkins of the San Francisco Spiders blanked Boston 3-0 on 5 hits. He rang up 2 strikeouts, keeping batters off balance all day long.

Jenkins has a 11-9 season record so far. In 25 starts, he has fanned 90 batters in 189.2 innings with a 3.27 ERA.
Tuesday, August 19th, 1969: Federals Shut out by Tiant
Luis Tiant shut 'em down and shut 'em out, hurling San Francisco past Boston 7-0 in a complete game victory.

He told BNN sportswriters in the postgame interview, "This is a game of adjustments and I made some good ones in this game."

Tiant held the Boston Federals without a run, tossing a 2-hitter while walking 2 and fanning 3.

In 24 starts this year Tiant has crafted a 7-7 record and a 3.94 ERA.
