Wednesday, August 20th, 1969: IL News: Regular Season ends
Another season has come to pass and "to the winners go the spoils" -- the lucky ones will be headed for the playoffs in a few days and a chance to win the International League title in the Governor's Cup. The envious losers, however, will suffer a long and somber off-season, wondering where it all went wrong and trying to figure out how to do it right.
Monday, August 18th, 1969: Sprague Tosses Shutout
In a very sharp performance at Marlies Ballpark Ed Sprague of the Toronto Marlies blanked the Kansas City Monarchs 3-0. He permitted 3 hits, struck out 4 strikeouts and had 1 walk in the Marlies victory.

Sprague has made 67 relief appearances this year and notched 2 saves. To date in 190.2 innings he has a 10-11 record, 4.25 ERA with 109 strikeouts and 92 walks.
Monday, August 18th, 1969: IL Star of the Week Honored
So far in his young career, Tony Horton has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the International League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts.

The 23-year-old Twin Cities Trappers first baseman hit at a torrid .448 clip as he collected 13 hits in 29 at-bats, 1 home run, 7 RBIs and 5 runs scored.

Horton is presently batting .297 with 34 home runs, 127 runs scored and 141 RBIs. His OBP is .329.
