Wednesday, September 18th, 1968: Cunningham Wants to Leave Federals
Allegedly, Joe Cunningham has asked to be traded from Boston. It is rumored that he is unhappy with fans and the team management and that maybe the pressure and demands of playing here are too great.
Sunday, September 15th, 1968: 2500 Hits for Hamner
He made it!
Granny Hamner got hit #2500! The Federals second baseman got his milestone hit at Fenway Park against Brooklyn. But it wasn't enough to bring home the victory. Boston was beaten by the Superbas 7-6.

Hamner's reaction to his accomplishment was nonchalant. He doffed his batting helmet to acknowledge the fans, who were chanting his name.

His manager said, "Granny doesn't pay any attention to individual statistics, the only thing he cares about is winning. He will be more concerned that we lost the game."

Hamner finished the game with 1 hit in 4 at-bats.

In a career spanning 2167 games, Hamner has batted .325 with 2500 hits, 171 home runs, 1310 RBIs and 1163 runs scored.
Monday, September 2nd, 1968: Wynn out of Action
It took the Boston team doctor a while to realize it, but left fielder Jimmy Wynn won't simply play through a hyperextended knee after he got hurt making a defensive play in today's Barons-Federals game. At first, it looked like Wynn might be back as early as tomorrow, but now the prognosis isn't quite so good; he's expected to miss at least 4 weeks.

This season Wynn is swinging the bat at a .259 rate with 109 hits in 421 at-bats. To date he has hit 18 home runs, scored 51 runs and driven in 73.
