The 40-year-old veteran compiled a .364 average and .519 on-base percentage by putting together 43 hits, 5 doubles, no triples, 11 home runs and 41 walks. He also scored 37 times and drove in 42 runs. |  | Friday, August 30th, 1968: Best Hurler Award Presented by AA The AA Best Pitcher for 1968 has been presented and the American Association winner is Ray Culp of Memphis.
"It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Culp. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Chicks star told reporters.
Culp excelled with an impressive 10-6 record in 18 starts. In 138.1 innings he yielded 131 hits and 48 walks, while striking out 83 and compiling a fine 4.03 ERA. | | | | |
