Monday, October 21st, 1968: Rookie Trophy Presented to Moose
Bob Moose's age didn't show very often in his first year. He performed more like a veteran on the hill for the San Francisco Spiders and today he walked away with the 1968 United League Rookie of the Year.

The 21-year-old starter registered a 17-6 record this season in 35 starts. Over 263.2 innings he gave up 194 hits, struck out 219 and issued 68 walks as he held the opposition to a .207 batting average and fashioned a 1.71 ERA.
Monday, October 21st, 1968: Top UL Pitcher for 1968 Named
The San Francisco clubhouse staff referred to him as "the kid" this season. Next year Bob Moose will have to have a new nickname. He earned it after winning the 1968 United League Cy Young Award.

Moose made 35 starts this year, winning 17 and losing 6. He threw 263.2 innings, fanned 219, allowed 194 hits and 68 walks, while holding opposing teams to a .207 average as he logged an impressive 1.71 ERA.
