| Breaking News |  | Friday, September 22nd, 1967: Mickey Mantle Out for 2 Weeks
Mickey Mantle of the Brooklyn Superbas was injured in today's game against Washington and had to be helped off the field by the trainers. The initial diagnosis is a bruised wrist, and he is expected to be out for up to 2 weeks. It happened while Mantle was running the bases. "It hurt a lot, to be honest. I just hope it heals soon and I can get back on the field."
In his season totals, Mantle has 29 home runs, .284 BA, .415 OBP, 118 RBIs and 108 runs scored. He has played in 143 games.

Team officials were upbeat today as Don Blasingame signed an extension with the Superbas. He'll be calling Brooklyn home for the next 2 years and will earn $4,350,000 in salary by the end of the contract.
