"Don't believe everything you hear." was the word from the team's ownership group after rumors of Leon Wagner wanting out of Dallas surfaced late yesterday. No one knows exactly how this news broke and Wagner laughed it off when told of the story.

 | Wednesday, September 6th, 1967: 300 Home Runs for Atlanta Slugger
Atlanta's outstanding right fielder Roger Maris joined the 300 Club today at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium with a booming blast in the Hilltoppers win over the Texans. They topped Dallas 5-4.
On his milestone day Maris had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 3 RBI and 1 run scored.
Tongue-in-cheek he told the press, "Don't tell me when I get close to the next milestone. Just tell me after I reach it. It will be easier to hit that way."
Lifetime in 1549 games Maris is batting .283 with 300 home runs and 978 RBIs.

 | Tuesday, September 5th, 1967: Nye Bewilders Hilltoppers in Shutout
Dallas's Rich Nye breezed through the Hilltoppers lineup today, collecting a 3-hit shutout and a 2-0 victory along the way. Nye fanned 2 as well.
"I didn't really feel like I had my game today," Nye confessed, "but some days are like that -- you just gotta go with what you have."
This season Nye has a 11-5 record with a 2.98 ERA.
