Thursday, September 21st, 1967: Howard Fires Shutout in Boston Victory
A masterful pitching performance carried the Boston Federals to a 4-0 victory over Cleveland. Bruce Howard held them scoreless in a complete game effort. He permitted 1 hit, had 5 strikeouts and allowed 1 walk.

The skipper of the Barons said, "Howard was sharp. We never did figure him out."

Monday, September 18th, 1967: Big Stick Wins UL Trophy
Orlando Cepeda must have thought he died and went to heaven this week. First he went on a remarkable batting rampage, hammering the ball at a .565 clip, then the Boston first baseman finds outs he has been voted the league's top performer and gets the UL Player of the Week Award.

For the week Cepeda batted .565 (13-23) with 1 home run and 7 RBIs.

This year Cepeda has socked 171 hits in 584 at-bats for a .293 average with 39 home runs. He is getting on base at a .333 pace and his totals also include 132 RBIs and 93 runs scored.
Friday, September 1st, 1967: Cepeda Launches Number 300
Swinging his way into the record books, Orlando Cepeda reached the 300- homer mark today at Fenway Park against the Detroit Griffins. He went 2-4 with 2 runs batted in and 1 run on the day, although Boston would go down to defeat 12-6.

"It was a distraction," Cepeda said of his 300th home run, "the press has been hounding me for quite some time and I'm happy that's over. I just wish I'd been able to make a difference in the outcome today."

Cepeda has a career .279 average with 1629 hits, 311 doubles, 48 triples, 300 home runs, 963 RBIs and scored 922 runs to date.
