Instead, the offseason begins today, bringing a different flurry of activity. Trades and roster moves will continue over the next several months as teams look for that magic combination that will find them playing for next year's championship. In baseball, nothing stands still, and general managers can't afford to take this time off, lest they find themselves sitting in the unemployment line next year at this time. If you want the AI to select the awards, simply ignore the option. |  | Friday, October 6th, 1967: Atlanta Tops Cleveland for UL Title It was a storybook year for the Atlanta Hilltoppers as they closed out a 4-0 series win over the Cleveland Barons to claim the 1967 World Series. They wrapped it up with a 3-2 victory to cap an incredible season and brought home their 1st championship.
The Hilltoppers manager gave his view of the series, "We had a lot of things going for us, offense and defense doing it at the right time. That's what it takes win a World Series."
"We're disappointed we lost, but we're also very proud of what we did all year," said the Barons manager. "They played better baseball than us and they beat us."
During the West Division regular season Atlanta put up a 99-61 record and finished first. |  | Thursday, October 5th, 1967: St. Louis Maroons Agee to Los Angeles for Hall A trade between the St. Louis Maroons and the Los Angeles Outlaws was made official this morning. The St. Louis Maroons have sent 25-year old center fielder Tommie Agee and a 2nd round draft pick to the Los Angeles Outlaws in exchange for 29-year old center fielder Jimmie Hall, 36-year old reliever Chet Nichols and a 2nd round draft pick.
To date this year Agee is batting .135 with 3 home runs.
In 1967, Hall is hitting .270 with 16 home runs and 66 RBIs in 115 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .337 with 43 walks and 56 runs scored. | | | | |
